Abstract: This article reports the eliect of 2% cimetidine cream and 0.75% ofloxacin cream on patients with acne volgaris.A double blind randomized clinical trial was performed on 21 pairs of acne cases for 4 weeks. The results revealed that the clinical effects of cimetidine are better than those of ofloxacin in treating non-inflammatory lesions(P<0.05),and the clinical effects of ofloxacine are better than those of cimetidinc in treating inflammatory lesions(P<0.05).A comparative study was conducted in 53 pairs of acne cases treated by cimetidine co cream(2% cimetidine and 0.75% ofoxacin) and 10% benzoyl peroxide cream. The results revealed that the total good etTective rate of cimetidine co cream is better than that of benzoyl peroxide cream(P<0.05).besides,a comparative study was conducted among 20 acne cases and 20 healthp controls matched with age and sex for the observation on the effect of sebum excretion rate(SER) of acne cases treated by cimetidine Cream. The results revealed that the SER of acne cases before treatment is about 2 times than that of healthy controls, and after treatment the SER of acne cases decreased about 44%.These results suggest that cimetidine co cream is an effective drug for treating acne vulgaris.
