Abstract: The levels of polyamines in the morning urine from 60 patients with psoriasis and 42 normal persons and 24-hour urine from 40 normal persons were determined by high performance Liquid chromtography. The resalts showed:No significant differences were noted between polyamine levels in 24-hour urine and those in the morning urine. The levels of putrescinc(PU),cadaverine(CA),spcrmidine(5D) and spermine(SM) in the urine from patients were significantly higher than those of rnntrol subjects(P<0.01).The levels of PU,CA,SD and SD:SM ratio had aignificant differences among different stages of the disease(P< 0.01,0.01,0.01,0.05,respectively).Effective treatment also significantly reduced the levels of PU,CA and SD in the urine(P<0.05,0.05,0.01 respectively). The urine from patients with map-shaped lesions had significantly high PU levels. The levels of PU,SD and SD:SM ratio were higher in the urine from patients wah severe inflamoratory lesions than those with otlicr conditions. The measurement of the levels of polyamines in the extorning urine may offer an approach to assess the severity and the effcacy of treatment.
