Abstract: We used three kinds of immunogold silver staining (IGSS) direct, indirect and Staphylococcus protein A gold (PAG) to investigate the skin lesions 32 cases with various autoimmune bullous diseases, 2 cages with epidermolysis bullous simplex and 5 normal adults as control, and compared with those by DIF.Postembedding immunogold labelling direct IEM was performed on 1 case with pemphigus herpetiformis and 1 case with epidermolysis bullous acquisita. The results demonstrated that IGSS is not only superior to DIF in investigating the autoantibody of the skin lesions by light microscopy but it is able to be used in IEM in autoimmune bullous diseases. We suggest that IGSS have great value in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of autoimmune bullous diseases.
