Abstract: To measure the frequency and nature of antimicrobial resistance in Neiseria gonorrhoeae isolates and to asess the efectiveness of current antibiotic therapy for treating gonorrhea,and the relationship between antimicrobial susceptibility and auxotypes,390 strains of Neiseria gonorhoeae isolated from STD clinic atenders in four cities between July 1994 and June 1995 were characterized by antimicrobial susceptibility testing and auxotyping.
