Abstract: A strain of Aspergillus isolated from a patient with leukemia was confirmed as Aspergillus Tetrazonus histopathologically and mycologically.Biopsy showed thick, short, globose and distorted hyphae in pulmonary tissue.Colonies on Czapek's agar grew well at 37℃.The surface was purplish with floccosity in some area.Conidial heads were short, columnar, light green,60~70×30~ 40μm in size.Stipes were smooth-walled,dull brownish in color.Vesicles were hemispherical 7~9μm in diameter.Conidia were globose, pale yellowish green and rugose.Cleistothecia enveloped by thick walled hull ceils were spherical, and 120~150μm in diameter.Ascospores were purplish red, smoothwalled with two pleated equatorial crests paralleled by a secondary narrower pair of crests which were sometimes indistinct. As a pathogenic species, this is a first report in China.
