Abstract: In order to study the role of interleukin(IL)12, IL15 and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α) in the pathogenesis of condyloma acuminatum(CA),we used double antibody sandwich ELISA for the quantitative determination of serum IL12,IL15 and TNF-α levels in 31,38 and 27 patients with CA respectively. The results showed the serum IL12 level was significantly(P<0.05) lower in CA patients than that of controls. The level of IL15 was also lower in patients than that in normals, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05).The TNF-α level in patients was almost the same as the controls. These results indicate that the lower level of IL12 results in inhibitory effects on a series of cell-immune responses, being not able to have an effect on T cell and NK cell activation and initiation of Th1-type cell responses at the very early stages of virus infection, which may play an important role in the pathogenesis of CA.
