Abstract: Objective To investigate the mechanism of multiple antibiotic resistance of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae chromosome. Methods The mtrR gene sequence of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae was examined by polymerase chain reaction and Sanger′s method, the drug susceptibility testing of relevant strains was done. Results Among 37 stains resistant to penicillin, 21 were resistant to tetracycline, erythromycin and Triton X-100 simultaneouely; one of them was resistant to spectinomycin as well; 5 strains were resistant to erythromycin only. All penicillin-resistant strains had a single base mutation in mtrR gene, and spectinomycin-resistant strain mutated in two position of mtrR gene. Conclusion The missense and null mutations in the mtrR gene of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae resulted in the emergence of multiple antibiotic resistance.
