Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of UVA on proliferation and melanogenesis of normal human melanocytes. Methods Normal human melanocytes were cultured from foreskins of healthy men.MTT spectrophotometry and NaOH assay were applied to determine the proiferation of melanocytes and the synthesis of melanin. Results & Conclusion It was found that UVA could induce the proliferation and melanogenesis of melanocytes in a dose-dependent manner. However, the effect of UVA radiation on the induction of melanocyte proliferation was limited.
