Abstract

Abstract: Objective To investigate the serotype and auxotype distributions of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in Guangzhou.Method One hundred and thirty one strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae were serotyped by co-agglutination test and 108 strains were auxotyped by La Scolea's method.Results Out of 131 strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae,87.8% (115/131) wereWⅡ/WⅢ,while 9.9% (13/131) were WI.The predominant auxotypes were Proto,Pro^- and ILe^-,accounting for 42.6% (46/108),21.3% (23/108) and 12.0%,respectively.WⅡ/WⅢ was found in all auxotypes whereas WI only in Proto and Pro^- auxotypes.Conclusion The study illustrates the prevailing serotype of WⅡ/WⅢ,and the prevalence of ILe^- in Guangzhou.
