Clinical and Histopathological Observation on Arsenism Caused by Coal Burning Pollution

Abstract: Objective To study the pathogenic situation of arsenism caused by coal burning pollution. Method Field investigation and the related laboratory tests for arsenism were carried out in the population living in endemic area of Guizhou Province. Results Two hundred patients with arsenism were found from 7069 local people. The prevalence of the disease was 2.83%, Among the 177 eligible patients 110 were males, 67 females. As to the condition of the patients: 93 cases were mild, 59 cases moderate, 25 cases severe, 3 cases with cancerization. Conclusion The patients investigated showed typical clinic features and histopathological changes of arsenism, which are consistent with arsenism caused by coal burning pollution.
