Abstract: Objective To investigate the role of psoriasin in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods Immunohistochemical technique(SABC) and flow cytometry were employed to detect the expression of psoriasin in 14 patients with psoriasis. Results The expression of psoriasin was up-regulated in psoriatic keratinocytes and the amount of its expression was 23.38%±4.49%. The presence of psoriasin was located in the basal and suprabasal layers of psoriatic lesions. The epidermis in normal controls did not express psoriasin. Conclusion The overexpression of psoriasin in psoriatic epidermis suggests that psoriasin be one of the factors leading to the infiltration of inflammatory cells in psoriatic epidermis and be related to the hyperproliferation of psoriatic keratinocytes.
