Abstract: Objective To observe the effects of the treatment of onychomycosis with the combination of terbinafine and dibazol. Methods The patients were divided into groups randomly. The test group orally took terbinafine 0.25g once daily in combination with dibazol 10mg thrice daily. The control group orally took terbinafine 0.25g once daily and placebo. The treatment course was 6 weeks for those with fingernail onychomycosis, and 8 weeks for those with toenail disease in test group; while 8 weeks for fingernail disease, and 10 weeks for toenail disease in control group. The therapeutic effects of two groups were evaluated. Results There were 54 cases in test group and 51 cases in control group, respectively. At the 24 week after treatment, the clinical cure rate was 70.4% (38/54), and response rate 83.3% (45/54) in test group, while the clinical cure rate 66.7% (34/51), and response rate 80.3% (41/51) in control group. There was no significant difference of clinical cure rates (P>0.05) and response rates (P>0.05) between two groups. Conclusion The results show that the combination of terbinafine and dibazol can improve clinical and mycologic effects and shorten therapeutic course for the treatment of onychomycosis.
