Abstract:

Objective To investigate the underreport reasons of HIV/AIDS in some region with high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Henan province. Methods Using cross-sectional survey and retrospective study, to survey the infection of HIV, incidence or mortality of AIDS of the population lived in the regions with high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Henan province from Jan 1998 to Apr 2007, compare them with the data reported, then analyse the underreport reasons. Results The investigation found 116 omitted HIV/AIDS. Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that the differences of routes of infection(χ2=4.57,P=0.03), AIDS or not(χ2=13.84,P<0.01), ART or not (χ2=91.91,P<0.01), death or not (χ2=113.03,P<0.01), date of death(χ2=46.77,P<0.01), and highest treatment unit( χ2=17.55,P<0.01) were significant. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the differences of ART or not (χ2=15.46,P<0.01)、highest treatment unit (χ2=4.21,P=0.04)、date of death (χ2=7.29,P<0.01) were significant. Conclusion The underreport reasons of HIV/AIDS mainly include that misdiagnosis in primary hospital, not receiving ART in time, and early death.
