Abstract:

[Abstract] A case of fibrosacomatous dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans(DFSP-FS) is reported. A 36-year-old female presented with nodules on her back for twelve years. She had experienced two recurrences of the tumor following local excisions. Histopathologically, most of the tumor cells were uniform in spindle shape and arranged in a storiform growth pattern. While in a focal area, some tumor cells were more atypical and more frequent mitoses which arranged in a herringbone pattern. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were strongly positive for CD34 in the storiform-patterned area while only a few tumor cells were positive for this marker in the herringbone-patterned area respectively. The diagnosis of fibrosacomatous dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans was made. Wide local excision was performed and the patient continues to be free of tumor at nine months from resection.
