Clinical efficacy of pimecrolimus cream 1% in the treatment of vitiligo

Abstract:

【Abstract】Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects and safety of 1% pimecrolimus ointment for patients with vitiligo.Methods: Topical 1% pimecrolimus ointment was applied to the vitiliginous patches in 49 patients with vitiligo,twice daily for 1 to 4 months ,the grade of repigmentation was evaluated at an interval of 2 month.Results: 22 of the total 49 vitiliginous patients(55.10%) experienced some repigmentation.50 percent(11/49)of the patients achieved a successful response(≥50% repigmentation).The medication was well tolerated except that 2 patients experienced acne-like lesions.Conclusion: Topical pimecrolimus ointment proved to be an effective alternative therapy for vitiligo, Because it does not produce atrophy or other adverse effect.
