Abstract:

Relationship between catalase –330 single nucleotide polymorphisms and systemic lupus erythematosus. Peng Xuebiao,Li Fuli. Department of Dermatology,Nanfang Hospital,Nanfang Medical University,Guangzhou,510515,china. [Abstract] Objective To investigate the relationship between catalase –330 single nucleotide polymorphisms and systemic lupus erythematosus. Method CAT -330 polymorphisms was analyzed by polymerse chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).Results We did not observe significant difference in the prevalence of CAT-330C/T polymorphic variants(CC,CT,TT) in SLE patients and normal controls. However,we found that the CAT-330CC gene frequency was significantly increased in active SLE,compared to in inactive ones and normal controls. We also observed that CAT-330 CC genetype showed a significant association with renal manifestation, blood system changes and presence of anti-dsDNA antibody and anti-U1RNP antibody in the patients with SLE. Conclusion Our findings suggest that CAT-330 genetype may contribute to some clinic manifestations in SLE patients, those patients who have CAT-330CC genetype will suffer from more severe illness and poor prognosis.
