Abstract:

[Abstract] A case of monilethrix is reported. A 20-year-old woman presented with hair and eyelashes loss and generalized follicular papules. Physical examination revealed dry and fragile hair of the whole scalp result in alopecia, easily fractured eyelashes, and dry skin with generalized follicular papulars. Light microscopy examination of hair shaft showed elliptical nodes form along the hair shaft at irregular intervals which were separated by narrower internodes. Histologic investigation discovered the decrease of density and volume of follicles.
