Abstract: Abstract Aim: To explore the possible roles of HLA-DQA1 and –DQB1 genes in the pathogenesis of psoriasis vulgaris in Zhuang people. Methods: Using polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primer (PCR-SSP), HLA-DQA1 and –DQB1 loci were typed for 58 Zhuang patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 102 healthy Zhuang adults living in Guangxi. All allelic frequencies of HLA-DQA1 and -DQB1 were compared between the two groups. Results: Allele HLA-DQB1*0303 was found to be positively (OR=4.540,p=0.004), whereas HLA-DQA1*0501 and HLA-DQB1*0301 were negatively (OR=0.189,p=0.000;OR=0.367,p=0.018, respectively)related to psoriasis vulgaris in Zhuang population. Conclusions: These three HLA-DQ alleles are closely associated with the pathogenesis of psoriasis vulgaris in Zhuang ethnic group, where HLA-DQB1*0303 might work as a susceptible factor, while HLA-DQA1*0501 and HLA-DQB1*0301 might take a role of antigonist.
