Methods Eight patients with bilateral bromidrosis were included in this study. A small incision was made outside of the surgical region, and apocrine sweat glands in bilateral axillary region were endoscopically removed from all the patients by ultrasonic knife under general anesthesia. The efficacy was evaluated six months after the operation. Results Efficacy evaluation revealed that seven patients were rated as grade 0, and one as grade 1 after the treatment. Skin exfoliation was noted during the operation in unilateral axillary region of one female patient due to excessively high temperature, and the condition was improved after proper skin care. The skin was burned by electrocautery hook during the operation in one male patient, which was cured after suture and did not affect the outcome of operation or appearance of the skin. None of the patients suffered from full-thickness necrosis of skin flap or subcutaneous hematoma. All the patients got a good cosmetic result and were satisfied with the outcome of treatment. No relapse was observed in these patients during 3 - 12 months of postoperative follow-up. Conclusion Endoscopy in combination with ultrasonic knife exerts favorable efficacy in the treatment of bromidrosis with hidden incisions and reduced complications.
