Abstract: Serum sex hormone profile was determined on 31 female SLE patients treated with Tryptervgitun Wilfordii Hook F (TWHF) alone.The profile consisted of estradiol,(E₂),bestosteronc (T),progesterone follicular stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone and prolactin.The results showed that the levels of E₂ and E₂/T ratios in SLE patients were significantly higher than those in the normal controls before treatment,and fell markedly after treatment.Moreover the increasisig rates of E₂ levels and E₂/T ratios in active patients were significantly higher than those in the palliative and stable.It is thought that reducing E₂ level and modulating E₂/T ratio by TWHF may be a key hoiat of the pharmacofogic action of the drug.
