Abstract: This paper reports the result of DIF examination on normal appearance skin of 9 cases of pemphigus and 8 cases of bullous pemphigoid. Normal skin specimens were taken 3cm, 5cm and more distant away from cutaneous lesions respectively. The IF results were positive in all cases. The IF patterns were similar to those from cutaneous lesions performed simultaneously, and there were no significant difFerence in the duration and activity of the disease, biopsy sites and the distance away from the lesions. The authors suggest that normal skin used as DIF examination is useful for the diagnosis of buillous diseases.
