Abstract: The incidence of Pityrosporum orbiculare and/or P. ovate grown on clinically normal skin in 80 volunteers is reported. The samples taken by scrubbing and washing were inoculafed in a medium containing rapeseed oil. P. orbiculare or/and P.ovale grew on 34 of 80 samples (42.5%). The age of the person with positive result ranged from 13 to 71. It was found that P. orbiculare and/or P. ovate grown on clinically normal skin were less active than those on the tines versicolor patients, they differed significantly from person to person, and the number of colonies was correlated with the shape of spores.
