Abstract: This article reports 131 cases of sporotrichosis among children (age 1-14) and old persons (age>59) seen in northern part of Jiangsu province during 1975-1983. There were totally 234 cases in all age groups, seen in this period.In the 73 cases of old person group, the ratio of female to male was 1.92:1, while in the 58 cases of children group the male outnumbered the female (1.32:1). Clinically, in old person group, fixed skin type accounted for about 52.05%, while in children group it was more common, about 86.21%. Among the 131 cases, 33 cases were misdiagnosd as tumor, furuncle, pyodermic ulcer, rosacea and tuberculosis cutis initially. In the children group the number of patients misdiagnosed was higher, so more attention should be paid to in the diagnosis.
