Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of the binding of a natural monoclonal antikeratin antibody,3B4,to Candida albicans on germination. Methods The binding of 3B4 to C.albicans was analyzed by ELISA and flow cytometry(FCM).The effect of 3B4 on germination was analyzed by germ tube forming assay. Results Both ELISA and FCM showed binding of 3B4 to C.albicans.Germ tube forming assay found that the germination rate significantly decreased in 3B4-added group compared to the control group with the same type of antibody added. Conclusion The natural monoclonal antikeratin antibody 3B4 can bind to C.albicans and inhibit its germination, which indicates that natural antikeratin antibody has some role in the natural immunity against yeast infection.
