Abstract: One hundred and forty-two musieal instrument workers. in processing of natural woods were clinically investigated and analysed. Of which 51 cases had occupational-dermatosis. The incidence was 35.92%.The clinical features were essentially contact dermatitis and eczema. Less seen were pruritus and hyperpigmentatioa. Nearly 1/3 of workers had allergic r}initis and conjunctivitis. According to case analysis, workshop investigation and patch test, it was considered that the pathogenesis might, be implicated with the exposure of the patients to some fresh and untreated aatura wood dusts especially Pterocarpus Santanlinus. Patchl test result showed the positive rate was lower and reaction was milder for the wood dusts treated by 98℃ for 6 hours than those untreated. It seems that the pretreatment of some natural woods may be significant in preventing occupational dermatosis in the course of processing.
