Abstract: The clinical data from 200 in-patients taking corticosteroids are reported. Long-term administration of corticosteroids gave rise to high incidence of side effects with involvement of multiple systems, complex clinical features and poor prognosis. Among initial manifestations infection was the most common one and insomnia appeared rather early. The incidence of side effects increased as the course of treatment prolonged.The incidence of side effects in various diseases was similar. The statistical analysis remineded us to use the corticosteriods morecarefully and be aware of the pcssiuility of side effects, Prophylactic measares should be taken as far as possible.
