Abstract: Objective To explore an effective method of scalp massive defects repair.Methods Patients with giant lesions of pigmented naevus,scar,sebaceous naevus,verrucous hemangioma or other benign neoplasms on the head,were treated by skin tissue expansion.Those whose lesions were not completely removed in the first expansion were treated repeatedly with reexpansion (6 to 11 months after the healing of the previous incision) at the same part of the donor skin,until the lesion was fully excised.Results Fifteen patients were treated by reexpansion and all obtained satisfactory Results.Of them,lesions were completely removed in 14 cases,2% of the lesion was left in 1 case.No obvious complications were observed.Conclusion Delayed repeated expansion is an excellent method to repair massive soft tissue defects in dermatological surgery.
