Abstract: This paper reports the etiology investigation of 51 cases of seasonal facial contact dermatitis (SG) and 87 cases of nonseasonaf facial contact dermatitis (NSG) along with 20 healthy control (HCG). The positive rate of European Standard Allergens patch test in SG was found to be significantly lower than that in NSG (P<0.005), but no significant difference was observed between SG and HCG (P>0.25). The positive rate of pollen allergen skin scratch test (SST) in SG was significantly higher than that in NSG (P<0.005) and in HCG (P<0.005). The positive rates of total IgE and speciFc IgE; were higher in SG than those in NSG (P<0.01) and HCG (P<0.01) respectively, while no significant difference was found between NSG and HCG.The positive correlation were found in SG between specific IgE and SST results (P<0.005, agreement 75.6%) and between SST results and total IgE (P<0.005, agreement 75.6%) and between total IgE and specific IgE (P<0.01, agreement 70.7%). Our results indicate that the pollen is an important etiological factor of seasonal Facial contact dermatitis. The IgE mediated late phase cutaneous reaction may be involved in the pathogenesis of this disease.
