Abstract: We measured bone mineral intents (BMC) in radius of 89 patients who trcatcxl with glucocorticoids by single photon absorptimetry. The BMC reduced significantly than noimal control group. The level of BMC was lost when the cumulating dose of glucooorkiaoida reached to 2000 mg of prednisone or after continuous trcattnent with large doses of glucocorticoids for 30 days, and then tapered to maintenance dose. This is a high risk period for the occurrencx of osteoporosis. Therefore we suggest that dose attention have to be paid to the BMC of the patients during this period and antiosteoporosis treatment be given. Some biochemical abnormalities were observed in our patients, the clinical significan of them were discussed.
