Abstract: Several strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae were isolated from the patients with acute urethritis in Shenzhen city in March, 1986. The sensitivity to antibiotics of one of them was determined by disc method. The discs used were produced by Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Factory in Guangzhou. The results showed that this strain was resistant to penicillin G. carbenicillin, ampicillin, streptomycin, kanamycin, cephalothin, cephradine, and oxacillin; slightly resistant to medemycin; and sensitive to erythromycin, gentamycin, chloromycein, cefazolin and furazolidone. The condition of isolation and culture of gonococcus and the tendency of prevalence of penicillinase-producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae are discussed in the paper.
