Abstract: This paper reported 31 cases of dermatitis extfoliativa neonatorum, which, through tomparison of clinical manifestations, laboratory investigations and results of treatment, were classified into STEN and DTEN, and the diagnosis and treatment of this disease were discussed. The authers emphasized that STEN and DTEN could be distinguished by clinical course, characteristics of skin lesions and cytologic examination. Because of its age of onset and the characteristic skin lesions, it should be diagnosed independently as neonatal exfoliative dermatitis instead of SSSS and TEN. STEN should be treated with effective antibiotics and generally corticosteroids should not be used in combination, whereas DTEN should be treated early with short course of large dose of systemic corticosteroids.
