Investigation of the presence of candida in cancer patients and healthy individuals

Abstract: The authors reported the presence of C.albicans and yeasts in 507 cancer patients and 503 healthy individuals. The specimens were taken from tongue, pharynx, stool, mid-portion urine, skin of finger wcbs and vagina.The frequencies of isolation of C.albicans and yeasts in the cancer patients were 28.40%, 10.27%. 9.94%, 1.99%, 8.09%, 6.19% and those in the healthy individuals were 4.18%, 1.59%, 0.99%, 0.40%, 0.80% and 2.56% respectively. Generally, a higher incidence was found in cancer patients. The data showed that the carriage of candida in stool was more frequent than the tongue and other parts of the body, The cause of higher incidence of the,fungus found on the tongue was discussed.
