Abstract: 65 cases of dermatomyositis admitted during the.period of 1957 to 1980 were reported.There were 21 males and 34 females with ages ranging from 6 to 68 years.Four were children.8 cases were found to be associated with neoplasms,among them 3 with nasopharynx cancer,3 witli lung cancer one with stomach cancer and one with breast cancer.One case associated with autoimmune hemolytic anemia.19 cases were followed-up.The mortality late was 15%(8/55).The causes-of death were due to heart failure,pneumonia,septicemia and neoplasms.The author emphasized that repeated determination of urine creative was important in the diagnosis.In the majority of the.patients steroid should be given more than two years.
