The International Journal of Dermatology and Venereology (former title: Foreign Medical Sciences-Section of Dermatology and Venereology£©is sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association, and in the charge of the Ministry of Health, P. R. China. It is an academic and professional journal in the field of dermatology and venereology, and distributed worldwidely. The purposes of the journal are as follows: (1) to carry out general and specific policies of the national health work set by the Party and the Government, (2) to implement the policies of integrating theory with practice, and combining popularization with the raising of standards, (3) to report the major progress in clinical and scientific research of dermatology and venereology in the world and (4) to promote the international academic exchanges in the field of dermatology and venereology. It mainly publishes advances, new techniques and new methods related to dermatology and venereology. The following columns are included: reviews, original articles, clinical experience, case reports, lectures, etc. Generally, it is a dermatological journal with excellent readability for dermatologists as well as clinicians, educational and medical research workers in related fields.ª¥  
     The journal was indexed by the Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CJFD), Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Evaluation Database (CAJCED), Wanfang Data-Digital Periodicals and Tsinghua Tongfang Database in 2003, and was selected as a source journal of Chinese S&T Journal Citation report (the expansion version) and indexed by A Guide to the Core Journals of China in 2004. In 2006, it was indexed by the Source Journals for Chinese Scientific and Technique Papers and Citations.
    In 2005, the total citation frequency of the journal was 442, impact factor 0.315, immediacy index 0.016, citation rate by other periodicals1.0000, cited half-life 5.9, article count 128 in 2004, immediacy downloading rate of papers on web 14.8.
    In 2005, the journal won the second prize for the Excellent Medical Journal Award granted by the Ministry of Health, P. R. China, and the third prize among the journals with high quality on the celebration of 90th Anniversary of Chinese Medical Association.
